Christmas in March!

Hello Buttershaw Baptist Church in England!  Thank you so much for your lovingly painted Santas and reindeer and Christmas cards!  Due to a postal strike, they didn’t arrive until late January I think it was, and I didn’t arrive til February!  Then it took me awhile to decide when to give them out and then I just decided, today is the day!  They loved them and didn’t care at all that it wasn’t Christmas time!  Sharing was tricky but good for them to negotiate!  Thank you so much for thinking of us!

I’ve just added all the photos I took here – hopefully most of your kids will catch a glimpse of their artwork.  Most were too blurry to post, there was a lot of cute boys in motion!

PS:  I did give these out about two weeks ago, just slow on my post!

The Day of the Tree

Today is the International Day of the Tree!  Our children’s center director, Pastor Adolfo, planned a little teaching and celebration time for all our center kids.

We gathered in the church to hear a brief lesson on planting and caring for trees and plants.  Then everyone raced to their respective dorms to plant their own new trees!

The kids loved it!

Professional tampers at work here!

Nicely protected for a little while, while it grows!

We finished by eating bananas, which grow on trees.  But not the tree we planted in our dorm which is an orange tree.  But it fit the theme anyway.  If I’d known ahead of time what type of tree we were getting, I would have bought oranges!

How will you celebrate the Day of the Tree?  Remember the wise proverb that says, “The best day to plant a tree was 20 years ago.  The second best day – today!”

Felipe was inspired to plant his own “tree” – a plant he found by the basketball court and brought home to plant!

My boys were eager to show Senor Adolfo the plants they planted about two weeks ago!  Some of them might grow into something!

We’re being trees!

So full of life!

My amazing boys don’t care of it’s hot or cold, if they’re dripping with sweat or with rain – they are full of life and energy and it must be spent!

And they love futball – soccer to us Americans.

I love watching them play.  I love watching them, period.

New Cute-Patoots!

Can these boys be ANY cuter?

They all arrived in my dorm while I was in the US.  Only one, Filipe, in the bottom right, is new to the center.  The other three were all in the Transition House and have now transitioned to me!

They are a handful and a privilege at the same time.  Please join me in praying for these sweet boys to feel at home, to know the love of their Father and for me to wisely know how to pour into them.
